TThis seating area is outside a new ground floor bedroom. The clients wanted an accessible space for sitting outside, with raised beds to grow colourful plants.

 

My role was to plan the dimensions and materials to allow for ease of circulation for someone with impaired mobility, on foot, using a walking aid or wheelchair.  This includes making connections to the rest of the garden by ensuring paths and corners have sufficient turning space. The size of the paved areas allows for a turning circle and a handrail attached to chunky sleeper beds supports independent mobility. The clients' chose their own lovely bench that can be moved to different positions with the space, to make the most of sun or shade as preferred.

I love the cheerful planting the clients have added, which includes scented scented flowers and herbs.
