SENSORY SEATING AREA
.jpg)
This seating area with trees and sensory planter was created for the space between buildings at a primary school. The main planter includes furry leaves (ballotta and stachys), scented edibles (oregano and lemon balm), colourful flowers and tactile grassess (nassella). The trees are Amelanchier lamarkii - a tough all rounder with spring blossom, summer fruits and colourful autumn foliage.
The furniture was built with volunteers at the brilliant local charity Men In Sheds (Penge). Using larch timber - which is grown in the UK and requires no chemical treatment makes this a sustainable design.
